Must Love (Beware of) Dogs

It’s a damp Sunday morning. There’s a vague rain and a gray haze. Between the center of the city and the airport, patches of trees are a deep green like I’ve seen in the Pacific Northwest. Taxis and buses rush through, relocating puddles onto pedestrians. Graffiti covers every flat surface and a few corners as well. It’s early enough that a few people are dashing to make the train, and a handful hustle to church, but mostly the humans are scarce.

An old woman with a headband is feeding snacks to the dog under the “Beware Of Dog” sign. Outside the closed car repair, she stands by with a smile. She tosses nibbles between barbed wire and the fence as she chats with this four-legged acquaintance. She’s leaning in with joy. For a guard dog, he lays his guard down, happy to be tamed with treats.

–Budapest, Hungary.

dachsund, dogs with dolls

Buddy. Also tamed by nice girls.

I love it. What’s not to love about someone feeding a warned-off dog ? [grin]

🙂 Right, I didn’t get a look at the dog, only the warning, so perhaps the dog wasn’t very ominous after all. Maybe a bit bigger than my friend Buddy in the picture (with my niece’s Barbie collection).
Welcome to the new persona! I look forward to any and all M-R updates!
