Intractable Gestures

In those years his father held that a nation could change its way of life, its history, its technology, it’s art, literature and culture, but it would never have a real chance to change its gestures.

Paige … forgive me, but I don’t get it – I mean the relevance of the photo to the quote (or vice versa). Sorry if I’m being thick ! :-\

    • πŸ™‚ No, no, not at all. Probably not a good fit. I’m not very adept at taking pictures of people. I get camera shy on their behalf!
Pamuk was writing this about the Turkish people, and this was a little crosswalk in Istanbul. I had my eye on the man by the restaurant–the posture of patient-impatience.
Just tells me I need to travel again to get more photos. πŸ™‚

OK: then my lack of comprehension was due to my ignorance of the author and his work. Have to live with that, eh ? πŸ™‚
Thank you for being so forbearing !!

      • Not at all, I’ve been hunting my pics for more options… πŸ™‚ It’s great to see when I’ve gone far afield!

OK, then back to those wonderful vignettes !!!
(They’re my favourites, as if you didn’t know.)
Imagine how you’d be if you bowed to everyone’s wishes ! – I think perhaps ‘bonkers’ would be relevant. [grin]

      • Haha, I’ve got a trip to Alaska on my horizon, so I’m expecting a suitcase full of tales up there!

      • I’ve made an update, M-R. How about now? πŸ™‚

Excellent ! – the three frames let me see immediately that I’m not looking for something specific (as I was before), but simply at the people …

      • πŸ™‚ Good night, my friend! Or good afternoon-into-evening to you!
