Creative Non-Fiction Short Stories. :) Travel, Oldsters, Love, and Compassion.
This week I realized that The Nice Thing About Strangers has been up and running for just over two years. Glory! I started this project hoping to get some use out of my notebooks full of random travel scenes, in hopes of giving myself a few deadlines, and in order to send some Nice Things back into the universe. Writing the blog has been more delightful than I ever expected.
I’m thinking it might be time for a Themes change. At the moment, readers can scroll and scroll and scroll to get to all the stories on essentially one page. While I like that, I thought with a new Theme, I could get more information about which stories are drawing readers.
So I’m asking for your advice.
Here are two other themes that I think work with the theme. I will tinker a bit with the appearance before the change, so these aren’t exactly as they will appeal. If you think one or the other is superfantastic, OR if you think I should stay “as is,” please do vote for your favorite option!Option 1: Suburbia
Option 2: Columnist
Option 3: Scroll down indefinitely. Hehe.
Thanks so much!
Paige
I’ll keep reading no matter what, but I did register my vote (I hear that I can’t complain if I don’t vote . . .). Congrats on two years of refreshing, insightful and deceptively simply stories.
I’ve been thinking of Columnist myself!
I hunted through the themes the other day. The ones you can pay to use didn’t suit my needs any better than these two. Hmmm, decisions, decisions!
I voted Suburbia. I think it looks more up to date that the present theme, but has a bit of softness to it as well. Columnist seems a bit harder, which is very clean but maybe not so “nice”.
Thank you! Maybe that explains why I was drawn to Suburbia. Something a little more warm about it, perhaps…
Didn’t cast a singular vote as either #1 or #2 seem to achieve your desired goal/affect. 🙂
Thanks for checking them out, nonetheless! They are pretty similar. It’s like my closet. Almost all of my clothes look similar, and when I find myself with my eye on something new, it’s usually the same as what I already have. 🙂
I said Suburbia, but in the end, it is completely your choice 🙂
Thanks, Al! I may do the unveiling either on Friday or at the start of next week.
And if it all goes to heck, we can just revert back. 😀
Haha very true 🙂
also consider what image widths they allow. and what problems people have with them on the forums. all themes have unexpected surprises.
