The Nice Thing About Strangers

Unrecognizable

A great deal has been said about love at first sight; I am perfectly aware of love’s retrospective tendency to make a legend of itself, turn its beginnings into myth; so I don’t want to assert that it was love; but I have no doubt there was a kind of clairvoyance at work…

Yes, a sort of knowing that draws us in, sometimes mistakenly, sometimes to a profound sense of a life well shared.

    • Yes, and as seen in the blog, my favorite love stories are the near-misses. πŸ™‚ I hope you’re enjoying the weekend, Michael!

I love the prose of this quote – or, perhaps I should say I clairvoyantly recognize the beauty of the words in this quote πŸ˜‰ No, but seriously – I remember hearing a different version of the definition of “love” – love is a verb, not a noun. Love, the feeling, comes from love, the action. And perhaps, it’s that love at first sight moment that allows an individual to engage with that love as a verb mentality to help nurture and cultivate that love as a feeling.

I think my philosophical side is screaming to be let out of its cage this morning, but I do enjoy how you encourage it to do so with your very thought-provoking offerings Paige. Thanks, as always, and best wishes for an inspired day!
