The Nice Thing About Strangers
Dear Addy,
The two postcards I sent from Turkey took about 6 weeks to reach you. So I thought I’d send an update that would show up in Colorado before I do.
Addy is my 5 year old niece, just weeks from her sixth birthday. She came to visit while I was packing my suitcase and I promised we’d take a trip together. When I asked where she’d like to go, she said “Turkey.” Of course. Today, crossing at an Istanbul crosswalk, using my fellow pedestrians as human shields, I thought could be a very long time before we have the chance for such an adventure.
Anyway, Addy my dear. I’ve been having a great time–meeting kind people and practicing my Turkish. Do you still remember the word for butterfly? Kelebek! I knew you’d remember.
Here are a few things I thought you might like to see.
