Because I, only I, see her smile a fraction before it reaches her face…Because her laughter spurts through a blowhole in the top of her head and sprays all over the morning. Because a man like me has no business with this substance, “beauty,” my here she is, in these soundproof chambers of my heart.

Beautiful!
I love the old photos of my grandparents. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
They are wonderful. I was recently going through some old photos myself when I was home, and have managed to copy them. These are intriguing…
The one of my paternal grandmother is uncanny. We have the same profile! I have to keep reminding myself that I’m not the one in the photo!
Isn’t it funny how these likenesses seem to skip a generation! By the way, thank you for following my blog…
Sure thing! Sorry I didn’t do it before! I recognized your little bird, but only today saw the “following” button hadn’t been pecked! 🙂
Thanks! That little bird (the Petchary in local parlance) isn’t in Jamaica at the moment – he’s a summer visitor from South America!
Best thing I’ve read/seen all day.. Thank you for sharing this loveliness!
Another inspiring post, excellent job! Your blog is so much fun to read.
What a fantastic wedding picture – love it!
It’s so sweet, right? I think Grandma was about 19. 🙂
I love those photos 🙂 It’s nice to know where one comes from, as it were, right?
Agreed! It reminds me to be grateful and good. 🙂
wow, it’s great that you keep your ancestor’s pics. lovely! did you purposely ask your grandparents to pass it to you? i guess i should do the same one day. most probably my dad and grandparents still keep them. i’ve just never asked them before.
I have been going through the old pictures from our family and scanning them when I have time. I keep thinking: if there’s a housefire, we’re going to lose all of these images! So slowly slowly, I’ve been trying to preserve them. It’s a good reminder of the dreams they had for me as well.
You should ask to borrow them! 🙂
fair enough. i agree!
Lovely, poignant post. A tribute to your ancestors.
Thank you so much! These photos have meant so much to me, it’s great to be able to share them.
Such a gorgeous, playful image of the two of them 🙂
